Who we are

We are
the Union

When two things or two people get together stuff invariably happens. Great stuff more often than not. Where would Lennon be without McCartney? Or fish without chips? Unions are at the heart of what we do. Unions between media and idea. Words and action. Effectiveness and creativity. We are The Union.

The Union is named Agency of the Year 2015 at the Marketing Star Awards in Glasgow.

Strength

Fun and games at the Summer party.
Fun and games at the Summer party.

With a staff count of over 90 we have the breadth and depth of talent to service our clients and ensure every aspect of their marketing is delivered on time, on budget and with no shortage of brilliance. Without them we’d be nothing. With them we’re everything.

Deep in the
mists of time

The Union arrived kicking and screaming in the early summer of 1996 when Facebook was but a twinkle in Mark Zuckerberg’s eye and a media schedule covered little more than outdoor and broadcast. Much has changed since then and still the landscape refuses to settle.

Union is born. The founders in 1996.

wwa-union
Within five years The Union had established itself as a leading UK regional agency.

As the communications world evolved so did the needs of businesses and the skills we required to meet those needs. We learned quickly that success demanded an approach that was fluid, flexible and collaborative: new structures, new technology, new ways of working. So out of The Union came Union Direct, Union Digital and Union Connect.

Today The Union has offices in Edinburgh and Leeds, employs 90 people and is still run by the founding shareholders. It’s no longer 1996. But one thing hasn’t changed. Regardless of sector or discipline we still provide clients with the full range of marketing communications expertise. Consider it a union between common and sense.
