The Union team enjoyed a great evening at the 2018 Marketing Society Star Awards, held at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. The awards is the equivalent of the Scottish marketing community’s Oscars – with over 500 guests attending from across a wide range of the agency and client companies.

We were delighted to pick up six awards on the evening. Our entries for Scottish Government (Parent Club) and Historic Environment Scotland won Gold, whilst these clients also picked up Silvers, with another Silver going to Sterling Furniture. A Bronze was awarded to Union Direct for Scottish Widows. Three other entries were nominated: for Food Standards Scotland and Police Scotland.

Laura Jones (Union) and Lisa Robshaw (Historic Environment Scotland) collect a Gold award.

The Union was nominated in the Agency of the Year category, and Michael Hart, the agency’s Creative Director, was nominated as Inspirational Agency Leader.

The evening started with a tribute from our Chairman to Kyle Hardie, The Union’s Managing Director, who sadly passed away in April this year. The Marketing Society have named their annual golf tournament in Kyle’s memory.

After the awards the Union team celebrated by partying into the wee small hours.

2018 Star Awards

The Union team celebrate a win at the awards.

Ian McAteer, The Union’s Chairman & Managing Director said: “The competition to win an award, let alone get a nomination, is brutally tough, as there are hundreds of entries. Whilst we didn’t quite hit the heights of last year, we are a delighted with our haul of six awards, making us one of the top agencies on the night. What is especially pleasing is that our winning papers were written by some of our young stars, and it’s a real reward to them for their hard work. A special well done should go to Laura Jones and Ross MacDonald for their Gold papers. And finally a big thank you to our clients, without their belief in us none of this would be possible.”
