Just before the dot com boom gathered a head of steam, Scottish Media Group (SMG) briefed agencies to develop a campaign to launch a range of new internet sites, including s1Jobs.com, an online recruitment site. The Union was successful in the pitch, and worked with the client to create Scotland most successful online jobs board. The brand quickly gained a market leading position, and with humorous and typically ‘Scottish’ advertising, soon became a household name. Indeed, in 2005 a leading Sunday newspaper voted the ‘Ice Cream Van’ TV ad Scotland’s favourite ad of the year. Business success, and numerous awards, followed. The advertising was so popular and iconic it was re-run ten years later, to celebrate the brand’s birthday.
