Digital Marketing Executive

Hello, and may we lure you into gainful occupation at an award-winning, flexible, friendly marketing agency in Edinburgh?

We work with an exciting assortment of clients, such as travel companies, distilleries, essential government projects, retail and finance. Our team, the people you could be working with, are just as multifarious with web developers, designers, creative writers, experiential events and our growing digital marketing team.

Tempted? We’re looking for someone to join us as a junior digital marketing team member.

Company

Union Digital

Job type

Full-time

Location

Edinburgh

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be solving problems, being curious but also diligent with attention to detail. There’s no easy way to say this, but a fair chunk of the job is working with numbers, taking data from social media reports (Instagram, Facebook, et al), turning them into meaningful reports and looking for nuggets of wisdom. That’s the launch pad into tactics and strategy, getting into the psychology of behaviour change, predicting technological development and what might be popular with people in a few months.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support to your team
  • Working with Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms
  • Building and analysing reports (Google Analytics and Meta)
  • Researching trends and articulating your findings
  • Helping with presentations, including adrenaline-rousing pitches
  • Problem-solving (you’ll be Googling a lot)
  • Document project progress – status reports, contact reports and the paperwork mechanics of agency life

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to have mastered accountancy-level math-fu for this role, don’t let the bread and butter of working with facts and figures sound too scary, but you should be comfortable with them. Are you the friend in a group who pops a holiday itinerary into a spreadsheet or website and spots hidden charges on the hotel bill? Yes? You’re the sort of person we want to find.

  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Well-organised with a keen eye for detail
  • Curious and good at problem-solving
  • Confident with spreadsheets (or similar tech)
  • Confident with people (or similar animals)
  • Experience with blogging, social media and analytics
  • Interested in digital culture and the evolution of the web

As you’ll see, we’re not asking for years of experience or a degree, and that is because this industry moves so quickly that yesterday’s skill set is far less important than your ability to adapt to tomorrow’s needs. We very much want to talk to people responsible for running a social media account (perhaps you have an influencer profile or handled social media for your employer for a while). If you’re running a blog with Google Analytics and Tag Manager, that’s exactly right.

We offer a hybrid work schedule, pension and life cover, enhanced maternity/paternity pay, generous holiday allowance, and training including but not limited to studying for your IPA Digital Performance Certificate.

You’ll have career progression within Union Group by further developing areas of expertise, and the opportunity to learn from some of the smartest people in the industry. Attending industry and Union events are also part of the role.

The Union Group seeks to employ the best talent in the market, regardless of gender, orientation, class, culture or ethnicity. We want to hire you if you can do the job better than everyone else. Only by attracting the best people can we continue producing the best work.
