The Union has been nominated nine times for the 2020 Marketing Society Scotland Star Awards, the annual celebration of the best marketing work in Scotland.

Six Union clients have been selected. The National Library for Scotland, Sterling Furniture, Children’s Hearings Scotland, Scotland Starts Here, Zero Waste Scotland and The Scottish Government have all been shortlisted by the judges, in a total of seven categories. (The categories are: Integrated Marketing, Marketing in Society, Marketing Planning, Brand Experience, Public Sector, Retail, Tourism, Leisure & Sport.)

Star Awards 2020

The Union has a long history of success in the awards, over the last four years the agency has gained 56 nominations and won a total of 33 awards. In 2015 and 2017 the agency was also named Scotland’s Agency of the Year.

The nominations in 2020 put the agency amongst the leading agencies. However, only three awards are given out in each category and the event is extremely competitive – with more than 30 agencies and clients nominated.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis the awards will now not be announced until October later in the year.

The agency thanks all the clients who have made these nominations possible.

Louise Killough, Client Services Director at The Union, commented, “These awards set the benchmark for marketing excellence in Scotland. With often more than 20 entries in each category, and an increasingly better quality of entry, it’s incredibly difficult to make the shortlist. A nomination is, of itself, a huge achievement. At The Union we set our standards high, so we are delighted to have nine nominations across so many different clients and categories. I feel it reflects the true breadth and depth of our capabilities in helping clients with their marketing challenges.”
