Our initiatives
We commit to re-evaluating and adapting all aspects of production to reduce our emissions. We will achieve this by:
Film and photography
- At project outset produce a sustainable production planning checklist for our partners to consider carbon footprint early on.
- Work with suppliers throughout pre-production and consider when footprint can be reduced.
- Provide staff training on reducing carbon footprint throughout production so a company-wide effort is implemented
- Working with FSC/PERC certified suppliers to ensure raw materials are from sustainable, well-managed forests.
- Using FSC mix paper as standard.
- Using print partners that are carbon-balanced or working to achieve this status.
Research
- Encouraging virtual research where possible.
- Designing efficient methodologies and fieldwork plans.
- Choosing low-impact environmental travel options when travel is necessary.
- Eliminating paper research transcripts.
Websites
- Using cloud-based Amazon Web Services (AWS) with UK-Based hosting, who are committed to sustainable hosting and investing in Scottish renewable energy.
- Optimising our back-end processes, caching and page structure to effectively reduce energy use and network load.
- Smart design: We build our websites with minimal HTTP requests to ensure a streamlined and efficient user experience.
